Interstellar is an upcoming 2014 science fiction film directed by Christopher Nolan. Interstellar is an immensely high-profile project thanks to Christopher He's involvement, but the truth is that he actually isn’t the first A-list filmmaker to be attached to the long in-development film. Jonah Nolan, Christopher’s brother, first started working on the script back in 2007 when Steven Spielberg was going to helm. Back then the movie was devised as a sci-fi epic about wormholes and time travel, but since Christopher He became attached it’s been said the screenplay has received a bit of a tweak.
In January of last year it was reported that Christopher Nolan would be combining his brother’s script with another idea he has been developing for a long time, and while it’s unclear what those changes were, they will certainly be revealed as we get closer to the release date and the filmmaker opens up
about his process crafting the movie.
Showing “Interstellar” in 70 mm has required a financial commitment on the part of theater owners. Brian Schultz, CEO of Studio Movie Grill, is paying $35,000 a screen for the projectors. However, Nolan has gone out of his way to express his gratitude to exhibitors who made the investment, even calling Schultz personally to thank him.
Schultz’s decision to screen “Interstellar” in 70 mm has commercial benefits as he reports that he’s nearly sold out through the first weekend, but there are also drawbacks to success.Interstellar is scheduled for a limited release in North America (United States and Canada) on November 5, 2014 and a wide release on November 7, 2014. It will also be released in Belgium, France and Switzerland on November 5, 2014 and in additional territories in the following days, including the United Kingdom on November 7, 2014.
